Mini-golf and Ice Cream - August 23, 2007

It was truly amazing - the spirit of these ladies! It was an unseasonably cool evening, windy, and raining when we all left to drive to the course. However, all 10 of those signed up showed up ready to brave the elements, play golf, and have fun. As it turned out the rain held off all while we were there.
Barb got the first hole in one, and Pat S got both a hole in one and a hole in three (a hole in one after two balls that rolled back to the beginning). We didn't know quite how to score it when Florence kicked the ball along, and Donna tried both crochet and baseball swings to improve her score. I played goalie for others to keep their balls on the green. Joan M and Mitzi showed their golf prowess by placing #1 and #2. We then enjoyed ice cream at Friendly's - even patti B who was forced to have a sundae after they didn't have clam chowder!

Summer picnic

We gathered at my home for a summer picnic .Our food was spectacular as usual - after all we all shared dishes we brought. We recited the Red hat vows and again we promised to regularly practice having fun, greet middle age with verve, humor, and elan, to never wear nylons with open toed shoes, and to learn to spit. And spit we did (actually in my dining room as it got chilly) with a watermelon seed spitting contest which was won by Patti B... And the advertising and music quiz of our youth was won by Pat S. Fellowship and fraternization was practiced by our members and we shared some secrets like one of our refined ladies tried to steal a trolley car as a teen.

Sterling Renaissance Festival

On a hot day in August, we traveled back to Medieval England! We wore our special red and purple circlets as befitting for the occasion. We cheered knife throwers; were amazed by the guy who walked the slack rope and juggled fire; ducked mud that flew from the Mud Pit boys; and shopped in the craft areas. Patti got a Red hat painted on her face with sparkles and Sharon and Elinore got knighted by Queen Elizabeth. We learned just how hard it is to roll a ball back and forth on your hand! We most certainly enjoyed being the Ladies Society of the Hats of Red....
