Mermaids of Cohoes PJ Breakfast

It was once again time to step out in our jammies - to Phelans in Clifton Park with about 160 other ladies. As always, we enjoyed the company of each other and new friends as well as our breakfast. There were raffles and winners, and this time, our own Joan B actually won a prize! But the best was the $7 price limit fashion show - including fashions for Carol Burnett, Carmen Miranda, the mens golf fashion, Little Bo Peep, and the very pregnant senior citizen.

October Gathering - Whispering Pines

We gathered at the Whispering Pines Clubhouse for our October gathering. First, I was surprised by birthday gifts including my very first Queen shirt and then we did planning for future events. We enjoyed a light dinner and found our very own home for meetings, and new members in our host who will red-uate with us in January. Then it was time for games - along with a cocktail for those of us who imbibe!

Murder Mystery Masquarade Luncheon

It was Murder again!!! This time in Ghent on a beautiful autumn day in a golf course restaurant in Columbia County with autumn flowers, leaves, and berries on our hats. This time, it was the Red Hatters who created, perpetrated, and solved the murder - and a terrific job it was! We all felt safer as we enjoyed our lunches after the mystery was solved, but then it was time for the mask-erade parade. The server judges who selected winners didn't pick Donna, but she won in my book. And I won the Grand Door Prize - awesome!

Tony n Tina's Wedding at Proctors

Proctor's was the setting for the wedding! The wedding and reception where everything that happens in all of our dysfunctional families ALL happened at this one wedding. We laughed at the very pregnant bridesmaid, the druggie brother, the ever-so-happy nun cousin, the drunk priest, the antics of the bride's mother and the groom's father, the gorgeous groom as he continues to get drunker, and the bride who resorts to lines of coke at our table before a very public disagreement with the groom. We danced at the reception, watched the cake cutting and smearing on the brides face, enjoyed when the wedding singer flirted with Joan M. and loved it when Donna caught the bouquet and had the garter slipped up her leg (with her socks on) by the gentleman at our table who borrowed a Red Hat for the ceremony.

Long Island Red Hat Convention October 12-14,2007

Three of our members (Patti, Joan B, and Gabe) traveled to Long Island for the regional convention along with about another 500 Red Hatters. They tell of a simply mar-vel-ous experience - great food, great fun, great shopping, and a really great time with other Red Hatters.
The dined in their PJ's, enjoyed and danced with Elvis, enjoyed the Queens' grand elegant entrance, and paraded in their regalia finest at a dinner . They have vowed to return to the event next time and their stories of fun and laughter have convinced most of us to accompany them next time!

Indoor Black Light Mini-Golf and Ice Cream!

Fearlessly, we mastered the challenges of indoor, black-light mini-golf. With our regalia illuminated by the black light and adorned chapeaus, we took clubs in hand and with many strokes (in my case) completed the course. Julie and Michelle joined us for the first time, and Joan M and Michelle were our champions for the evening. Then off to Friendly's for ice cream sundaes (and yes they were the diet kind with no fat or calories) or so we told ourselves.

NH Fall Frolic Weekend

Six of us traveled to the Best Western Inn in Keene, NH for the fall frolic. After an introductory tea, we froliced in the pool, did aerobics briefly and met the blow up Red Hatter for the first time. We shopped, of course! And then dressed in our finest for dinner with 180 other Red Hatters from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and our group from NY. And we were Rowdy with our kazoos, funny sounding horn and cow bells courtesy of Patti B. Karoke and dancing followed. Sadly we couldn't find a song we all knew the words to or they would have heard us. But we danced! And Pat S entertained the crowd with a swooping dance routine with the blow-up doll. A PJ breakfast followed in the AM, including our new red and purple feathered caps! We journeyed home after check-out stopping to shop and dine on the way home after a terrific fun outing!

International Beer Tasting with Restless Reds

Tonight we sampled international beers from Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, and China paired with delicious homemade ethnic food offerings from each country. Two handsome young men from the beer distributor described each beer and a bit of its history and how to pair it with complementary foods before we sampled each flavor. From light lager to hearty stout, we drank it all.... and even came home with a bottle of beer of our choice to enjoy at home.
