Jackpot Jubilee & Hats - Las Vegas January 2008

Mitzi, Elinore and Patti B were off to Vegas for the Red Hat Regional Convention and the world's longest and biggest can-can line. Weeks of planning went into the event including specialized purple and red can-can outfits with big, red wax lips (of course) and Cirque de Soleil show tickets. Despite Mitzi's knee injury requiring use of a wheelchair and walker, these Rowdies were undeterred ! They partied, danced the can-can, gambled, imbibed, and shopped - and a spectacular time was had which ended all too soon.

Our Birthday Party

We ALL have a birthday in 2008 - so January seemed like the right time to celebrate all of our brithdays with a party. Of course, we had birthday cake (baked by Lydia) and ice cream with candles. But we celebrated with the games we played as kids on our birthdays! We played hot potato on the Elks dance floor as everyone there watched, unwrap the package game with a multi-wrapped and boxed gift, and pin the Red Hat on Ruby the Red Hatter. Then we all opened presents after a chinese auction game to select our final gifts. And we laughed a lot of course.

Christmas Brunch at the American Hotel

It snowed on the date of our planned Christmas event with the Restless Reds, but we were not deterred. We celebrated Christmas (with wrapped Christmas gifts of course) on January 7th. The Hotel is lovingly restored, and the French Toast with apple compote, and the omelettes were to die for! The coffee was plentiful and as good as it gets as was the company. Elinore planned a terrific event for our and our Christmas left-right game was enjoyed as was bingo and the great story of the Grumpy Santa, the angel, and the Christmas tree. Our host regaled us with sories of Sahron springs and the Hotel's history. Then we shopped in the delightful and quite inexpensive shops of Sharon Springs.
