Tea & a visit with a Victorian Lady - Brown House Inn

We were transported back to the Victorian era as very rich, often bored ladies complete with Victorian dresses (with hoops and crinolines). First, we struggled to get dressed in Victorian garb (even tying the hoop's strings to our bras!). And then, we were schooled in etiquette and the language of fans by Mrs. Brown in her parlor. Mrs. Brown, very proper of course, educated us on the times and manners - even explaining that crossed ankles or knees denoted a loose woman, and that ladies undergarments of that time were crotchless. We struggled with making "fancies" (perfectly useless items for gifts) and then were invited to tea by Mary and Chuckie (mistresses of the manor) and served by our "maids" - Donna and Ade.
Such a great afternoon! It was like a party with friends at a Victorian comedy show!!!!

New member Installation at AOH

Since January, we are delighted that a number of new ladies have joined us to play together. So, to welcome them, we planned an installation ceremony complete with pledges, vows, candles, bubbles and gifts. And as usual, it was a hoot!!!! Chuck couldn't wait to start the bubbles, Elinore gave us bubbles wishes, and Geri led us in a vocal and kazoo chorus of "When the Red, Red Robin goes bob, bob, bobbing....." Afterwards, we had a brief planning session in which I had to use to cowbell to restore order! Thanks to Patti for the bell!!!!

St Patrick's Day at AOH

We wore Red & Purple & GREEN! It was absolutely necessary to celebrate St Patrick's Day in the most proper way. And we ate corned beef and colcannon along with our celebratory beer! With bagpipes and Irish dancers and ice music, we partied the night away at the AOH. Patti B even wore a chinese auction prize!

Spindle City Diva's PJ Party - Cohoes, NY

Waiting for this event was like waiting for Christmas when we were kids - it took forever. But just like then, the wait was WORTH it. Even snowy weather would not deter us. What a great time!!! A great breakfast, over 125 Red Hat ladies all decked out in sleeping attire, dozens of wonderful door prizes, shopping for new hats and jewelry, and of course, the long awaited talent competition! After our Red Hat vows, a kazoo chorus, and breakfast, we performed as one of four acts - we worried they were all clearly more polished than own. So we shuffled on stage with our special red hair headbands, new purple and red clackers and had a great deal of fun performing a somewhat less than polished routine. We laughed with our audience. Then the 50-50 was announced and Mitzi had Won! And then, Mitzi picked her own ticket and won again!! And we won lots of great door prizes, including the first selection and the two prizes we had donated. Finally, the winner of the talent contest was announced, and it was US!!!
